'Scuse Me While I Tinker

Lately, thanks to the oogly MySpace templates that abound on the web, I've been trying to teach myself a bit about cascading style sheets, HTML colour codes, and the like. The upshot of this is that it will allow me to make some changes to the template of this blog - which is great as the brown background I had here previously was pretty drab.

So just ignore me over the next little while as I play with colours 'n' stuff, OK?

Oh booger off. I happen to be digging the "Granny's Old Curtains" aesthetic at the moment! (cf. my MySpace page)

*grumbles*

Your MySpace profile is much improved. The thing is getting the colours to fit one another, and that's bloody hard in my experience. (You shoulda seen the complaints I got about The Map Room's yellow-text-on-olive-green scheme back before I changed it.) I just don't think the wallpaper quite matches the colour scheme of the text area yet -- the parchment background clashes a bit, I think.

The problem when you start tinkering with an existing, professionally designed template is that you inevitably end up having to redesign the whole damn thing. You wouldn't believe how much time I've spent on trial-and-error design, changing one CSS element at a time. Actually, you might -- and if you don't now, you will soon enough.

Exactement. This is a work in progress - and I'm sure my teeny readership will be understanding (well, except YOU, maybe ;-).

Amazing how much you begin to learn as you do the trial-and-error thing. And the time you waste, as you've noted above.
